The show premiered on E! on October 14, 2007, and has since then been the highest-rated series on Sunday nights among women aged 18 to 34. Its November 4 telecast averaged a 1.06 rating among adults and a 1.7 among women 18 to 34, according to Nielsen Media Research. The network also said that Keeping Up With the Kardashians has reached over 13 million total viewers in its first month on air.

Season 4 premiered on November 8, 2009 with a two hour special called "Keeping Up With the Kardashians: The Wedding". The remainder of the season began airing on December 13, 2009, and ended on February 21, 2010. The premiere special received the highest ratings to date with 1.1 million viewers. The second episode broke more records with 4.1 million viewers. Season 4 premiered in the UK on January 17, 2010. The season finale of Keeping up with the Kardashians broke many records for E!, these records include 4.8 million viewers, and highs among adults 18-34 and adults 18-49.

Annoyed, Kim stormed out shouting, “I don’t need to get married. I don't need to have babies. I’m fine!” During a family game of charades, Kourtney and Scott drops by to announce when they would learn the sex of their baby. But when Scott tries to gain the group’s attention, Khloe interrupts him and begins acting out the phrase “deadbeat dad,” to cheers from the group. Having already warned her family she would no longer tolerate their lack of respect for Scott, a fed-up Kourtney scolds, “He doesn’t need to come here. This isn’t his family,” before the couple makes their exit. After Kris offers to house Khloe and Lamar’s wedding presents while the couple searched for a home, Khloe paid an unexpected visit to her parents’ house and found her mom had opened some of her presents and was now cooking with her waffle maker. Cursing off Kris, Khloe bolted with her gifts in tow. Despite missing Kourtney’s sonogram because of her dislike for Scott, Khloe still refuses to make nice over dinner with the pair, Kim and Rob. When the group heads to Kim’s condo afterwards, a drunken Khloe begins harassing Scott about Kourtney wanting to leave him before he “knocks her up.” Having had enough, Kourtney attempts to leave, but Khloe blocks her exit, and tries to force her to sit back down. Knowing she needed to apologize so everyone could move on, Khloe pays a visit to Kourtney and Scott‘s condo, but things didn’t go as planned when Scott calls her out for not taking full responsibility for her actions. After Kris and Kim hear about the trio’s second blow-up, they sit Khloe down and suggest she go to anger management class. Khloe reluctantly agrees, and forces Kim to accompany her. During a role-playing exercise where she had to vocalize what about Scott upset her, Khloe eventually admits, “I feel like [he's] taking my sister away from me.” With her newfound knowledge, Khloe finally apologizes, coming clean about what was really bothering her. Overhearing their reconciliation from the kitchen, Kourtney then joins her boyfriend and sister in a group hug. Meanwhile, Kris finds herself getting into all sorts of drama this week after a friend passes along some male enhancement pills. Feeling what can only be described as romantic (we think), she decides to slip one into Bruce‘s coffee without telling him and it works. The spouses ended up spending the afternoon locked in their bedroom instead of taking Rob, Kylie and Kendall to the mall as promised. But Kris’ experiment soon goes awry when Rob accidentally drinks Bruce’s coffee one morning, and is almost sent to the emergency room with an unexplained erection. Figuring out what must’ve happened, Kris is forced to admit to Bruce she’d been spiking his coffee, with Khloe, Scott and Rob all witnessing the scene. Stunned by another of Kris’ schemes, Bruce bluntly tells his wife, “This is about as dumb as you’ve gotten so far.” Despite his mishap, Rob is still able to find the funny in the situation, and later teases Kris about her misguided decision with a well-placed cucumber. |
| 35 | "Baby Blues" | 12/27/09 | Following bouts of morning sickness, Khloe confides in Kim that she took a pregnancy test and the results came back positive. But after being sworn to secrecy, Kim immediately spills the news to Kris. Having not even told her husband Lamar yet, Khloe gets a phone call from Kylie saying their mom has been dishing about the pregnancy. But as she prepares to become a mom, Khloe is dealt a hard blow when she realizes during dinner with Kourtney and Kris that she was not pregnant. Meanwhile, Kim's “white lies” start taking a toll on her family members. Joining Kourtney and Kris for lunch, Kim keeps the pair waiting for over 30 minutes. When she finally arrives, Kris realized Kim’s nails were wet from a manicure. But Kim refuses to accept her lying is a problem, saying that if she could keep from hurting someone’s feelings, then “it’s easier just to not really all the way tell the truth.” Her lying comes to a head when she forgets to take Kylie and Kendall to the beach, and instead of telling the truth, calls to say she tripped over a dog and sprained her ankle while running. The girls and Bruce later drive out to Kim’s condo to see how she’s doing, even bringing her flowers, but catches her unloading shopping bags from her car. Having had enough of the lies, Kendall smashes the flowers on the ground and heads back to the car with Kylie, while Bruce confronts Kim about her lying. She later visits the house to apologize to her sisters, but after she promises to never tell a lie again, Kyllie asked, “Are you being serious or are you lying — again?” |
| 36 | "Shape Up Or Ship Out" | 1/3/10 | With two months remaining until baby’s arrival, Kourtney realizes it is time she and Scott got serious about preparing, beginning with the nursery. After proving to be no help when picking out a crib, Scott only complains further when Kourtney asked him to help her build it. The father-to-be only lets Kourtney down again when instead of attending a breast-feeding class with her, he chooses to relax poolside with Rob. Embarrassed she had to attend the class with Khloe, Kourtney confronted Scott about his attitude and threatens that if he doesn't “start helping me out and getting on my team, this relationship is done.” Finally beginning to understand he was behaving irresponsibly, Scott seeks out Bruce for advice, and realizes, “Being an only child, I never really did care too much about other people’s needs.” To prove his commitment, Scott surprises Kourtney by building the crib and beginning to decorate the nursery, and later, joins her for a Lamaze class. Meanwhile, having had enough of his wife’s controlling ways, Bruce provides Kris with a little payback. After Kris turned down his request for $500 to repair one of his toy helicopters and confiscated his ATM card to ensure he didn’t spend any money, Bruce is forced to borrow money from Khloe in exchange for cleaning and changing light bulbs. But when Kim and Khloe learn that Kris spent $4,000 on a dress after chastising Bruce about his spending, the girls team up with their stepdad to teach Kris a lesson. Stealing the pricey frock from the dry cleaner, the trio sends Kris on a scavenger hunt around town looking for it, and when she returns home, Bruce lets her have it. “I want my damn ATM card!” he says, with Kim and Khloe cheering him on. Feeling guilty for not letting Bruce enjoy his earnings, Kris buys her husband a brand new $3,000 helicopter to make it up to him. Meanwhile, Rob also tries to rekindle his relationship with Adrienne again after seeing her at Khloé's wedding, but turns out to almost be stalking her, as he calls her 24/7. He almost goes to New York to visit her, but receives an email from her new boyfriend which tells him that it really is over between them. Rob is heartbroken but decides to get a date to move on. | 37 | "Must Love Dogs" | 1/10/10 | With boyfriend Reggie Bush away during football season, Kim finds a new companion to keep her company at home this week — a stray Chihuahua. Having crossed paths with the puppy outside of a nail salon, Kim chooses to adopt the dog after she is unable to find an owner and is told it would be put to sleep at the pound. Naming the pint-sized pooch Princess, she immediately gets to work accessorizing the pup with a pink top and buying her a bed, but doesn’t think to pay a visit to the vet until her mom suggests it. After being examined by the vet, Kim learns Princess needs to have emergency surgery on her uterus. But following the operation, she is dealt even more bad news. Knowing that with her busy schedule she will never be able to provide the care Princess needed, Kim gives her up to one of the vet’s assistants who offers to adopt her. Following the experience, Kim puts her newfound love of animals to good use, and becomes a volunteer at a local pound. Meanwhile, at the Kardashians' home, Bruce decides it is time Rob found a job and a place of his own, and tries to inspire the him to get a move on. Making it his mission to irritate Rob into action, Bruce first removes the lock on his bedroom door, and then starts following him around the house. Quickly getting the hint, Rob finally realizes he needs to find work if he wants to “get away from the Brusier.” Having found him a job during college, Rob again turns to Kourtney for help, and is able to land a marketing position with a skincare company. Later, the whole family goes out to celebrate. |
| 38 | "Body Blows" | 1/24/10 | Bruce goes to a charity event for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and although Kourtney, Kim and Khloé were set to attend, they didn't which upsets Bruce. He then decides to teach the kids a lesson in giving back, and organizes a charity boxing match in which fans bid for a chance to be in the ring with their favorite Kardashian. The event benefits The Dream Foundation, a national non-profit wish-granting organization for adults with terminal illness. Rob, Scott, and Khloe enthusiastically agree to participate, but Kim needs convincing, and even attempts to buy her way out of the competition before finally agreeing to pitch in. Unlike her athletic siblings, the girly-girl proves a difficult learner, and considers faking her own knockout to prevent having to fight — until she meets Carol Ann Lis, a fan battling cancer who travels to the event just to cheer on Kim. Kicking off the night, Bruce steps into the ring to face a much younger opponent. With his family looking on worriedly, the former Olympian proves he hadn’t lost his touch, and knocks out his opponent in only two rounds. Next up is Rob, who goes up against an opponent 22 lbs. heavier than him, despite regulations prohibiting such a difference in size. Wasting no time, his challenger quickly comes after Rob, and even continues throwing punches at him when his headgear pops off, grounds for being disqualified. After being knocked to the ground, Rob’s match is called, and the Rob is escorted out while his opponent continues threatening him from the ring and audience members begin to heckle the Kardashian clan. Having seen her brother’s fight gone awry, Kim is ready to throw in the towel, but decides against it when she remembered her loyal fan. Kim enters the ring for the final match of the night and is almost immediately pummeled by her competitor. But in the second round, the timid star fights back, drawing the support of the crowd and the approval of her family. After two rounds, the match is decided by the judges’ scorecard, and with a final tally of 20-18, Kim finds herself on the losing end. Even though she didn't win, Kim is proud for putting herself out in the boxing ring, and knew that she made Carol Ann proud. Sadly, Kim’s inspiration, Carol Ann, passed away soon after the boxing event, and the episode was dedicated in her honor. Meanwhile, Kourtney babysits for a friend and finds out that she isn't prepared to have a baby at all. Scott does a much better job at babysitting and does great with the toddlers. | 39 | "Weekend From Hell" | 1/31/10 | Kim, Khloe and Kourtney go on a mini-getaway to Santa Barbara to spend quality time together. Considering it her last hoorah, eight-months-pregnant Kourtney wants to squeeze in one last adventure with her sisters before becoming a mom, so the trio hits the road for a fun-filled few days. Although they are determined to spend as much time together as possible, the three ladies hit a setback early on when Kourtney is told she can’t go horseback riding in her condition. Knowing how much Kim and Khloe are looking forward to the experience, Kourtney tells them to go on without her, but soon regrets the decision when the pair fails to invite her out afterwards, Kourtney then learns that she and Kim have gone to the beach to watch the sunset without her. The situation doesn’t get any better when Khloe and Kim enjoys themselves a little too much during a wine tasting over dinner. The following day, Kourtney goes to breakfast by herself because her sisters are still sleeping off their wild night. After Kourtney airs her frustrations with her sisters, the trio finally agrees to head to the beach, but Kourtney only grows more irritated when Kim and Khloe spends the day complaining. Having had enough, Kourtney angrily tells her sisters she wants to cut the trip short, and the group packs it in early to head home. But after she takes some time to cool down during the drive, Kourtney realizes she had overreacted and admits to Kim and Khloe that she had desperately wanted their vacation to be perfect because she was worried that their relationships would change following the baby’s birth. Reassured by her sisters that motherhood would only bring them closer together, Kim, Khloe and Kourtney head home. Meanwhile, back at home, Kylie gets jealous of Kendall, because she signs a modeling contract. |
| 40 | "I Want Your Sex" | 2/14/10 | Khloé makes a "love tape" for husband Lamar Odom while he's on the road, but it turns out to not be sexy at all, and she is embarrassed because Scott and Rob play it with Lamar, who originally thinks that it's a joke. Kourtney misses intimacy with Scott as well, but is afraid to have sex because she doesn't want to hurt the baby. She later takes a Sex During Pregnancy class with Scott, and begins to enjoy sex again. |

Then, Kris and Scott find themselves on familiar turf, butting heads yet again over his maturity level. After Kris pulls favors with a business partner to land Scott a job with Quick Trim, the Kardashians’ weight-loss product, Kourtney‘s baby daddy attempts to repair his relationship with the Kardashian matriarch, but finds himself being berated as usual. Tension between the two only worsens when Scott joins Kris, Kourtney and Rob in Las Vegas for Kim‘s 29th birthday. Hitting a hotel bar shortly after landing, Scott and Rob return to the family’s suite completely drunk, and begin smashing furniture, while Kim and Kourtney attempt to get dressed in an adjoining room. When Rob exits to greet an old friend, Paula, in her hotel room, Scott embarrasses himself further by repeatedly referring to Paula as a hooker. He eventually returns to the Kardashians' room to sleep it off. However, the peace becomes short-lived, when a still-intoxicated Rob soon wakes up Scott as payback for being unable to hookup with Paula, and the pair begins wrestling around the suite. Kourtney confronts the two about their behavior and reminds them that Kris would be arriving with her business partners any minute, and the two need to sober up. Arriving just in time to catch Scott and Rob rolling around on the floor, Kris takes charge of the situation and orders Rob to get dressed for dinner, but bans Scott from coming. Despite being warned multiple times against attending Kim’s birthday dinner, Scott drunkenly makes his way to the family’s table. After Scott begins ordering drinks, Kris promptly instructs the waiter to cut him off, causing Scott to jump out of his seat and go after the waiter. After repeatedly threatening him and shouting in the man’s face, Scott gets physical, and attempts to shove a $100 bill in the waiter’s mouth, which embarrasses everyone. Knowing Kourtney and her mom would only make the situation worse, Kim is forced to chase after Scott, and tried to convince him to return to his room. Scott drunkenly refuses to apologize and adds that the waiter had disrespected him, and that Kourtney had always known who he was, when she met him. Meanwhile, Kris returns to Los Angeles early, not willing to spend one more minute with Scott, and tells Bruce about the incident. Leaving Kourtney alone in her room for the rest of the night, Scott fails to make it back to the suite and instead, continues to party. Upon her return to Los Angeles, Kourtney confides in Kim and Rob that she is done with Scott once and for all, unaware that Rob puts their call on speaker for Scott to hear. At the end of the episode, Kourtney has locked him out of the house. Scott begs her to talk to him, but she says "go tell it to someone who cares." (One Hour Episode) |
| 42 | "Delivering Baby Mason" | 2/21/10 | Scott returns to the house to apologize to Kris, but the apology does nothing for her and she isn't willing to give him another chance. Meanwhile, Kourtney is ready to soldier on as a single mom, much to Kris and Khloe‘s delight. But after Scott repeatedly apologizes over text messages and voicemails, she offers him one more chance to explain himself in person, and eventually forgives him. Deciding to keep her reconciliation with Scott a secret, Kourtney invites him to her baby shower without telling Kris, Khloe or Kim that he would be stopping by. Confronting her daughter about Scott’s appearance, Kris is told to stand down. Finally, after so much fighting, the whole family comes back together. Kim also decides to take two weeks off from working after fainting from exhaustion, and decides to also stop taking on so many responsibilities. Four weeks after the shower, Kourtney goes into labor, and the entire event is filmed by Scott on his personal video camera. Instead of heading for the hospital right after her water breaks, Kourtney manages to organize laundry, take a shower, shave her legs and do her makeup before leaving the house. The dad-to-be, Scott and sisters Kylie and Kendall finally make their way to the hospital near midnight. Arriving one after the other, Kris, Khloe and Kim soon follows in the early morning hours until Kourtney gives birth to her son, Mason Dash Disick shortly after 6 a.m. But only two weeks after giving birth, Kourtney keeps her word about being a working mom, and announces alongside Khloe that the pair would be returning to Miami to help run the South Beach branch of their DASH clothing store — and to shoot another season of their spin-off. Khloé says that she will be going too, although she can't be there 24/7 and she isn't very happy about it as she wants to stay in L.A. with Lamar. Scott is going as well to visit some of his friends and to open a nightclub. Kris on the other hand, is upset because they are taking their son Mason too, while Bruce tells Khloé her marriage is more important than going to Miami. |
